In addition to classical quartet line-ups Sax/Piano/Double-Bass/Drums with Nicole van den Plas, Peter Kowald, Paul Lovens live in Belgium in 1972 and the QuasarQuartet with Simon Nabatov, Vitold Rek/Mark Dresser, Vladimir Tarasov in 1992/3, A23H also sought encounters in the classical trio Sax/Double-Bass/Drums with Buschi Niebergall, Uwe Schmitt in 1977, in the Trio Viriditas with Wilber Morris, Kevin Norton recorded on two CDs in 2000+2001 and also with Fred Hopkins, Dougie Bowne in New York in 1995 and with Kent Kessler, Hamid Drake in Chicago in 1997.

Mike Osborne was a very special musician...I remember him as quietly intense and thoughtful and not a seeker of the limelight...I must have seen him play dozens of times in many small venues from ‘68 to ‘75 or so...I loved his playing...a high end technician but full of heart as well as head...I still listen to his music a lot on the original vinyl and i’m so pleased this gig has surfaced. the artists seem to downplay their achievement as something they just tossed together in the living room during pandemic lock down. Yet, it is a highly original take on the classic drums/sax duo. A huge range of musical ground is covered, and emotional content. A great album in any context, I listen to it often. bob3
